About the Author
Hello,
I am so humble that you have come to check out the Modern High School Playbook. As a first generation to go to college, I know what it’s like to seek guidance on how to achieve your dreams. I grew up in a household where my parents worked tirelessly to make ends meet. My grandparent’s took care of me when my parents couldn’t. Money was always tight and school supplies were difficult to afford. With limited financial means and academic guidance surrounding me, goals beyond high school, like college, seemed only dreams.
Where my family may have lacked academic resources, they more than made up for it in teaching me the value of hard work. My grandparents, both from agricultural and military backgrounds, instilled in me a strong work ethic. Inspired by their example, I dedicated myself to high school, taking upon multiple responsibilities at the same time. I balanced academics, honor societies, and varsity athletics while also taking college courses, flying airplanes, working part-time at a sandwich shop, and volunteering at libraries and a petting zoo.
This relentless effort paid off. I graduated as my high school’s valedictorian with a two-year college degree. And later, I became the first in my family to graduate from an Ivy League university. I’m incredibly grateful for that outcome, but I’ll be the first to admit that the journey wasn’t without its sacrifices. The sleepless nights, the relentless pressure, and the toll on my mental and physical health all left their mark. With no mentor to guide me through it, I often doubted myself. There were moments when the weight of it all caused real emotional breakdowns.
That’s why I wrote The Modern High School Playbook—to provide the kind of guidance I wished I had back then. Did you know that 80% of students do not have sufficient access to counselors? That’s a staggering number, and it’s why I’m passionate about giving students the tools they need to thrive—tools that I wish I had. This playbook is more than just a guide to achieving your goals; it’s a framework built from my own experiences that helps you navigate high school while avoiding the burnout I experienced.
Inside, I’ve included self-management techniques designed to help students perform at their best while minimizing stress and maximizing confidence. The playbook directly addresses the challenges students face today, from academic pressure to mental health struggles like anxiety. Whether you’re aiming for college or considering another career path, the playbook equips you to think strategically, develop a personalized plan, and stay on track to succeed.
I wrote this book to be practical. At under 100 pages, it’s concise and action-oriented, so even the busiest students can read and implement it. It can be used as a step-by-step guide to help you create and achieve your own roadmap for success. To ensure continued support, the book is also linked to a social media platform (Instagram) where key concepts will be reinforced throughout the school year. You’ll also have the opportunity to engage with other students and share insights along the way.
In my professional career, I’ve spent many years mentoring individuals, guiding them through career planning, and helping them achieve promotions and growth. I’ve also managed complex engineering projects in the aerospace industry, overseeing teams that built and executed intricate plans. The principles of career management and strategic planning that I’ve shared with them are the same principles I’m now offering to high school students through this book.
Drawing from both my academic and professional journey, I’m on a mission to help the next generation succeed. It’s my sincere hope that the Modern High School Playbook, along with its social media community, will empower students to achieve their dreams—healthily and confidently.
I wish you all the best in your journey.
Sincerely,
Brenton Clamor
